About

Corbin Heist

I live at the foot of Rattlesnake Mountain, in a small town at the top of the Snoqualmie Valley. On a good day I'm up with first light through the Douglas firs, coffee by the fire on the balcony, and by afternoon I'm climbing the same ridge behind my home until the trees break and the whole Snoqualmie Valley opens up — Si in front of me, Baker and the high Cascades stretched out behind it.

Sometimes I travel to industrial towns, port cities, the kind of nowhere that doesn't make anyone's must-visit list. Sometimes I'm in the French Pyrenees, the Dolomites, the Moroccan Atlas. Sometimes it's a skin track before dawn in January, a ridge run in August. The camera comes because I'm going anyway. The best photographs I've brought home started as a two-hour detour.

Sometimes my path crosses yours. Same town, same trail, same morning. corbin@heist.studio when it does. Substack and Instagram in the meantime.
